Arts Administrator
Job Description

      The Arts Administrator is an independent contractor, working on a fee-for-service basis, providing administrative support for the activities of BHCA and its committees.  The activities of the Arts Administrator are coordinated through the Liaison Committee, which consists of a minimum of three active BHCA members.

 Skills

 The successful candidate for the Arts Administrator contract should possess the following skills and knowledge:

·        Familiarity with cultural and artistic resources of the Bellefonte area

·        Strong oral and written communication skills

·        Computer skills including word processing and database (mailing list) management.  BHCA does not currently own a computer, so the administrator will use his/her own computer and printer.  BHCA will buy paper and ink.

·        Experience in preparing grant applications and final reports

 General Responsibilities and Their Time Frame

 1. Publicity

·        Develop and implement marketing of BHCA activities, in cooperation with the respective committees (Sunday Afternoon at the Library, Summer Sounds, Gallery at the Gamble Mill, Victorian Christmas Arts & Crafts Show, Film Forum, etc.).  This includes preparing bulk mailings.   Ongoing effort

·        Maintain current awareness of local and regional media outlets  Ongoing

·        Develop and issue press releases as necessary Ongoing

·        Develop and implement efforts to increase local and regional awareness of and interest in BHCA  Long-term project

·        Ensure that BHCA website, www.bellefontearts.org, has current, accurate information.  The administrator is not, however, the webmaster.  Ongoing

 2. Fundraising & Grants

·        Develop and implement annual direct fundraising projects in cooperation with the membership  Ongoing

·        Prepare applications for state and local grants and final reports for successful grants  Ongoing

·        Assist the Local Government Grant (LGG) Committee in publicizing the annual LGGs, provide applications to interested parties, assist committee choosing the grantees, notify successful awardees, and assist in preparing LGG applications and final reports to the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts  Annual

·        Identify and pursue additional public and private grant sources  Ongoing

 3. Administration

·        Oversee organizational committee for/supervise Victorian Christmas Arts & Crafts Show  AnnuaI

·        Be the "first contact" for BHCA by email at bhca@bellefontearts.org and by telephone

·        Maintain mailing list database (Excel spreadsheet) to support publicity and fundraising activities  Ongoing

·        Organize and maintain BHCA current and archival records   Ongoing

·        Collect mail regularly from BHCA Post Office Box 141, Bellefonte   Ongoing

·        Maintain supply of BHCA materials at various community locations – Library, Borough building, Gamble Mill, Train Station, etc.  Ongoing
