Minutes from previous meeting (4/19/07):

Dave moved to accept; Barb second.

Treasurer’s report (end of minutes):

Arts Administrator’s Report:

§         Donna has resigned as President due to family related issues

§         JoAnn has agreed to serve as President

Library Concerts:

§         New concert series begins on 10/28/07

Gallery at Gamble Mill:

§         Susan: the Gamble Mill is being sold but Jeanne Murphy assured us that the new owners would still allow the show and that we should still plan out next year’s schedule

§         Sharon: working on the show dates for next year.  The first show will be Food for Thought (group exhibit).  The second show will probably be a school show and the last two still need to be decided.

§         Once the dates are solidified the committee will meet.

§         Susan: in an effort to get more committee members she thought we could mentor high school kids and show them how to install the art

§         Mixed observations about the menu inserts.  Colina had eaten lunch there and noted that the program wasn’t in menu.  Melady noted on a separate occasion that people were using them as guides to look at the art.

§         Mark: once the schedule gets finalized let him know.  A Business School student from Penn State is helping BHCA as a marketing project.

Summer Concerts:

Minstrel Show:

Talleyrand Park:

Victorian Christmas:

§         26 applications and a lot of phone calls

§         Only one complaint about the price increase

§         There are 41 booths, same as last year.  Not many options for additional venues.

§         The Philatelic Society re-evaluated their operating costs and as a consequence doubled the price to use the space.  Mark negotiated $600.  Mark will be meeting with the YMCA the following week to negotiate the contract.

§         The selection committee will be meeting to choose applicants.

By-Laws:

§         Unanimously approved

§         The document is going to the lawyer for the final draft

Miscellaneous:

§         Since we didn’t have a 30th Anniversary Party maybe we should have a celebration to honor the hard work of everyone (volunteers, donors, etc).

o       Romayne: BHCA used to have a holiday party every year; it’s a good way to recruit new members.

o       Mark: will try to brainstorm with some ideas.

§         Sally: Tree decorating fundraiser for Talleyrand Park has been delayed until next year due to all the construction.

§         Romayne: check out Kitty’s new book!  It’s available for purchase at the APS and there should be a book signing around the holidays.

§         Susan: we should recruit new members for 2008.

§         Sharon: hold meetings at a public place—new members are more likely to show up.

o       We call came up with some potential places:

§         Courthouse

§         YMCA

§         Café on the Park (Sara and Erin will look into)

§         Cool Beans

§         Annex (Mark will look into)

Next meeting: Friday, Nov 30th (at Café on the Park?... Colina’s house if we can’t do the Café).

Barb moved to adjourn; Romayne second.
