Minutes from previous meeting (3/25/07):

Treasurer’s report (at end of minutes):

§         See report

§         Need Gamble Mill mailing cost

§         Will move Talleyrand Park to income and expenses on the new treasurer’s reports

§         Mike moved to accept; _______ 2nd

 

Arts Administrator’s Report:

§         Spoke with Don from the PPA

o       Cultural data project to compare our group to other arts organizations to see where we can improve

§         Brought membership list to shift through

§         By-Laws: Mark has talked to a couple of attorneys to review the by-laws.  Colina hasn’t talked with Mark Faulkner yet.  JoAnn will talk to Chuck Brown.

 

Library Concerts:

§         2nd weekend in May will be the last concert of the season

 

Gallery at Gamble Mill:

§         New show (Pastel Society) is pretty much set up

§         Will be starting on the new postcard soon

§         One piece from Food for Thought sold

 

Summer Concerts:

 

Talleyrand Park:

 

Victorian Christmas:

§         Nothing to report

 

Miscellaneous:

§         Local government grants

o       Gay: meeting 4/30/08 to review applications

§         Elections committee

o       Nothing to report

§         BHCA logo

o       Unofficial logo went out on the Gamble Mill Gallery postcards

o       Dave: would like to see something that can be done in black and white as well as color

§         Color version of Jim’s logo (Gazebo).  Perhaps just color the lettering.

o       True moved to accept the Gazebo logo as the new official logo or BHCA.  Ralph 2nd.

§         Increasing membership

o       Mark: brought membership list or everyone to go through.  He will email it out to so we have time to review and bring to the next meeting.

§         Copies/office/mailing supplies

o       We have an account at M & M in Bellefonte to make copies for meetings

o       We have a tax exempt credit card for Office Depot

 

New Business

§         Mark: The Garman wants to solicit corporate donations for live performances.

o       BHCA would collect the donations/ticket sales and then BHCA would pay the Garman and the production company

o       They’re planning on bringing Annie in the Fall

o       Gay: bring someone from the Garman and/or production company to present to BHCA

o       Ralph: could BHCA lose money from getting involved?

o       Dave: sounds like we need more details to make an informed decision

o       True: might be a good thing for BHCA to get involved with since it shows that BHCA is expanding

o       Colina: concerned about the quality of the production.  Has anyone seen something else this company produced?

o       Erin: maybe we could do a little more research and ask around

o       Dave: subcommittee to gather more information (Dave, Mark, and True)

§         Need to know:

·        Quality of shows

·        Profit/loss details

·        Will the company move here if things go well?

·        Do they plan on using local actors/actresses?

§         Colina: is there a demand for art lectures/demonstrations?

o       i.e., someone that knows art to give a talk on how to assess good art

o       True: Palmer Museum has an event where individuals can bring one item to be assessed (kind of like the Antique Road Show).  Maybe we could host something like that?

o       Mark: keep a buyers list (Gamble Mill Gallery) for contacts?

§         Dave: since the artist pays BHCA we often don’t know who purchased the art work from the Gamble Mill Gallery

o       Gay: maybe we could arrange a walk through of the Gamble Mill Gallery?

§         Colina/Jim: will bring it up at the next Gamble Mill Gallery committee meeting

o       True: have collectors give a talk?

 

Next meeting: Tuesday, May 27th at Café on the Park at 7 pm
