Location:  Home of Gay & Jim Dunne, 222 N. Allegheny St., Bellefonte

 

Attendance:  JoAnn Knupp (President), Dave Eggler (Treasurer), True Fisher, Melady Kehm, Sally Houser, True Fisher, Colina & Ralph Seeley, Ziggy Coyle, David Bauchspies, Linda & Keith Koch, Dave Kurtz, Dick Knupp, Gay Dunne, Jim Dunne (Secretary)

 

Minutes of September 11, 2009, meeting were approved (Colina, True)

 

Treasurer's Report:  Discussed by Dave Eggler.  The relationship of the Talleyrand Park Committee to BHCAwas explained.  The report was approved (Dave Kurtz, Colina)

 

Victorian Christmas: Sally Houser reported that the YMCA and the Elementary School had been secured.  She is working to gain early access to the gym/cafeteria on Friday for the arts & crafts setup personnel.  Dave Eggler will handle the setup at the Elementary School.  Keith & Dave Kurtz also volunteered.  True Fisher & Jim Dunne  will again set up the YMCA.  Volunteers for Sat. AM coffee: Colina.  The Garden Club will be selling calendars at the Y.

The Bellefonte Victorian Christmas Community Choir under the direction of Miriam Locklin will perform this year at the High School.  .

             

Fund Raising Activities: (JoAnn) The price for Glenn Miller Orchestra is $4000.  The High School gym is available for $250 plus $25/hr for a janitor.  Melady discussed promotion to the local ballroom dance groups including the group at Penn State, the Central PA Ballroom Dance group as well as the two ballroom dance instruction sites at the YMCA and in Pleasant Gap.  Sally & Gay offered to help Joann.  Joann will pursue dates for the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and may look into the other big band groups sponsored by the same promoter, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and the Artie Shaw Orchestra.  The concept of a big band for dance and concert was approved by a voice vote.

 

Sunday Afternoons at the Library:  The next two concerts:

            October 18 - The Arthur Goldstein Jazz Quartet

            November 15 - Banjovial

 

New Business:  Dave Kurtz gave a short history of kayaking in CentreCounty and at the Sunnyside site in Bellefonte.  He petitioned BHCA to assume responsibility for the October  Pennsylvania Cup Series Race to be held in Bellefonte in 2010.  The request was referred to the Executive Committee for further discussion.
