Summer Sounds (Joann): Meeting soon.

Mills Brothers Proposed Concert: The high school is available on April 2nd. Keith reported that Fulton Bank has pledged $500.  Other banking & corporate firms, professional and private donors were discussed.  Keith provided a copy of a banking/corporate fund raising letter that could be used for a fund raising mailing.  There was discussion of eligible advertising areas utilizing the $1500 Visitors Bureau grant available through HBI.   A motion to pursue bringing The Mills Brothers to Bellefonte was presented (Carl, Nancy).  Discussion of the motion: Dave brought up costs.  The group costs, $4500 - 5000; ? $2000 transportation; housing for 5-6 could be provided through local B&B, as was done with the Artie Shaw Orchestra; ticket price $25; 200 @ $25 = $5000; Sponsors @ $500 each; Patrons @ $25 -100.  Romayne mentioned that Comcast gives a certain amount of discounts to non-profits.  The motion was approved.  Sally suggested tapping into HBI’s marketing expertise (Vana Dainty, Tom Wilson) for out of county advertising.  A mailing list of professionals, corporate & banking firms will be compiled and a fund raising letter will be mailed to the general BHCA list as well. Joann will get photos and general information from The Mills Brothers for posters & advertising.  Jim will design tickets.  All activity is dependent on getting an agreement with the Mills Brothers.

Other Business: Romayne presented an appeal of the Centre County (?) and the Centre County Women’s Resource Center to sponsor a film - ACE (Adverse Childhood Experience) which shows a correlation of adverse childhood experiences with health problems at ages 50 - 70.  They are looking for a public showing in the next few months.  Romayne will attend the screening and gather more information.

Next Meeting: Friday, March 11, 7 PM,  at the home of Keith Koch,  Forge House, Bellefonte

  Respectfully submitted,

  James Dunne, secretary
