BHCA Meeting
May 31, 2014, 7 PM
Bellefonte Art Museum

Present: Keith Koch, President, Jim Dunne, Secretary, Gay Dunne, Joseph Griffin, Joanne Tosti-Vasey, Mary Vollero, Nancy Miller, Patrick North, Melady Kehm, Julia Kasdorf, Philip Ruth, Arthur Curtze, Nancy Perkins. A quorum was in attendance as defined by the BHCA bylaws.

Minutes - Minutes of 5/2/14 were approved.

Treasurer’s Report (Dave Eggler, in absentia, click here for the report ) - Treasurer’s report approved.

Committee Reports:
Summer Sounds (Nancy Miller): Nancy is seeking hosts for the concerts. Volunteers: Keith, 6/27; Mary, 7/13; Joanne T.V., 7/27. Julia will check her calendar. Nancy discussed general guidelines including no vehicles on the mill race cover - drive on the grass to unload.

Sunday Afternoons at the Library (Jim): Sundays, 2:30 PM at CC Library & Historical Museum. A successful season was completed. A vocal and jazz groups have expressed interest in performing next season.

Bellefonte Victorian Christmas - Announcement an application will be on the website and will be emailed and mailed shortly. 2 venues next year -YMCA and Middle School.

Poetry (Julia, Colina) - At the Bellefonte Art Museum (BAM).
5/16 - Bellefonte Poetry Collective: Teresa Stouffer, Georgi Johnson, and Bib Polak read their own poems and poems of deceased members Corinne Johnston, John Haag and one other.
6/20 - Penns Valley Poets

Old House Fair - Melady has located the file on the Old house Faair from the 1990s. The committee is working towards a 2015 program.

Historic Preservation Committee - Jeanne reported by email that Sue Hannegan is enthusiastically attempting to retrieve the documentation of properties in the Historic District stored at the Borough with the intention to place them online.

Bylaws - Jim moved to approve the following amendments to the Bylaws which were emailed to the membership on 5-6-14:

ARTICLE III - MEMBERSHIP
Section 4. Conflict of Interest Policy
These bylaws shall incorporate by reference the Financial Conflict of Interest Policy adopted by the Corporation at its meeting of March 21, 2014. Members with a potential financial conflict of interest must receive a copy of this policy, read, understand, and agree via signature affirmation to it.

ARTICLE V - BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Section 8. Conflict of Interest Policy

The amendments were approved unanimously.

Petition for Allowance: Keith learned today our petition to the Supreme Court was quashed. No further legal action is planned.

Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival in Schull, Ireland - Mary’s film was very well received. She reported on how a very small town with out a movie theater was able to present an international film festival. Films were screened in various small venues - buildings, store fronts and restaurants.

Edible Landscape Garden - The garden was expanded 40% this year.

Next BHCA Meeting - Friday, 7 PM, August 1, at the Gatehouse, home of Melady Kehm.
