SUSAN C. STRUBLE of State College has exhibited locally in one-person shows and in group shows in State College, Bellefonte, and Altoona.  She won a first prize in the Art Alliance Members' Show in 1999 and a second prize in the Blair County Arts Festival in 1998.

Susan attended Emma Willard School in Troy, NY, Carleton College in Northfield, MN and Penn State.  She now works as a volunteer art therapist at Skills Inc. and the Adult Day Activities  Center.

The pictures in this show include six figurative works, four still lifes, one architectural landscape, and one abstract.  The media vary from watercolor to pencil, Conte crayon, or India ink, sometimes with white gouache.  The unifying element in these pictures is composition, which determines the mood of the picture.  Outside of works in this show, Susan has been working on sculpture, which has made her more aware of the third dimension in her drawing and painting.  She plans to explore this direction in the future.
