This home at 251 N Allegheny Street, across
the street from the Hastings Mansion and immediately south of the Episcopal
Church (red door), was built for Dr. Robert L. Dartt (1853-1895), a prominent
Bellefonte physician.  A plaque on the front says it was built in 1879.
Interior features include three fireplaces, butler's pantry, claw-foot tubs,
antique chandeliers, built-in linen closets with glass doors, built-in china
closets, stained glass windows, French-styled doors, and wooden interior
shutters
The house, as it stands today, is an amalgam of styles,
like many in Bellefonte.  The eave brackets along the front and the tall
windows suggest
Italianate style, the tall roof and oher
features are
Gothic Revival, the tall tower
Second
Empire, and
the wrap-around porch and overall appearance
Queen Anne style.
