Bylaws - The committee (Joanne Tosti-Vasey, Dave Eggler, Joseph Griffin, Jim Dunne) has extensively rewritten the BHCA bylaws to bring them in compliance with current nonprofit regulations. After discussion, one of the draft proposals for Article XI, Amendments to the Bylaws, was recommend. The new BHCA Bylaws (click here) will be submitted at least 21 days prior to the next meeting on May 2 for consideration and vote. A draft Financial Conflict of Interest was discussed. A provision was added: Affirmation by signature of the Board of Directors or Corporate membership with potential conflicts of interest indicates compliance with this policy. A signature line was added. With the above changes, the Financial Conflict of Interest Policy was passed unanimously (Jim, Joseph). (Click here)

Historic Preservation Committee - The committee met on March 13 (click here). Discussion at BHCA meeting: Jeanne discussed her submitted plan “Garman Opera House Archival Project” (click here). She prefers the term registry -- records the existence and location of information and artifacts -- because we are not in a position to acquire and store anything. She reviewed her comprehensive project. She recommends forming a task force of committee members and interested BHCA members. Newspapers are the best source for documenting performances.

There was a discussion of the MOA of Dec. 22 between Bellefonte Mews and the State Historic Preservation Office. Keith called PHMC about 3 weeks ago and was told that the Photo Documentation and Salvage of Architectural Details had been completed. Jim has seen the completed Photo Documentation in the Centre County Library Historical Museum. Another copy is located at the Centre County Historical Society.

Old House Fair - The committee has recommended that the project be delayed to 2015, possibly to just before the 2015 Home & Garden Show.

Poetry (Julia, Colina) - A literary “out loud” series, mostly devoted to poetry, about one Friday evening a month, (none in July or August or December) at the Bellefonte Art Museum (BAM) cosponsored by BHCA and BAM. Proposed dates:

April 25 (Bellefonte High students) (date conflicts with the first of 3 evening performances of the musical Aida at the High School)
May 16 (Bellefonte Poetry Collective, Bob Polak)
June 20, Sept. 19, Oct. 17

Old Business:

50th Year Celebration of the Kayak Slalom on Spring Creek (Dave Kurtz) Dave has sent a proposal for the “Art of Paddling” project to the art teacher of the middle and elementary school of all 5 county schools.

New Business:

State Theater Discussion: Notes from the meeting of the State Theater representatives and BHCA members on 3/18 can be viewed by clicking here.

Movie Series: Mary suggested the possibility of a BHCA/BAM cosponsored move series in the Bellefonte Art Museum. Sources of movies and expenses discussed. With no admission charge, rental for nonprofis are low. Suggested committee members - Mary, Joseph, Patrick
