Location: Home of True Fisher, 228 N. Allegheny St., Bellefonte

Attendance: Joan Knupp (President), Romayne Naylor, (Vice-president) Jim Dunne (Secretary), Dave Eggler (Treasurer), True Fisher, Sally Houser, Colina Seeley

Minutes (10/28/11): Minutes approved.

Treasurer’s Report (Eggler; see below): The report was approved (Sally, Romayne)..

Victorian Christmas Arts & Crafts Show - Sally reported that the coordinator of the Middle School venue, Denise Signa, was very enthusiastic and will run it again this year. The committee will consolidate mailing lists and mailings. The application & announcement mailing are expected to go out in April. Keith reported that a list of 50 new homes has been collected to consider for the homes tour. Sally has been contacted about the possibility of a church tour. Victorian Christmas its own website - www.bellefontevictorianchristmas.com. The HBI website is www.visitbellefonte.com. We will have access to 8 sandwich boards from the APS and 4 from the Y.

Visitors Bureau - The VB has an extra $1500 available for rest of fiscal year which could be used for Summer Sounds, Gallery at the Gamble Mill and Sundays Afternoons at the library.

Summer Sounds - Joann presented an idea for an addition to the gazebo concerts - jam sessions on Wednesday evenings in June, July, and August. There will be no pay. Performers will bring their own equipment. Gay suggested that a proposal be presented to the Borough Council Parks and Recreation Committe, Don Holderman, assistant borough manager and then to the Borough Council. Would Council waive the rental fee?. There was a general agreement to pursue the idea.

Sunday Afternoons at the Library (SAL) - Jim proposed that BHCA purchase a piano dolly for the library. The library has rearranged the space used for performance which required the piano to be relocated. The current position is satisfactory for a piano and one other performar, but won’t accommodate a piano with a larger group. The piano would need to be moved, which is unsafe without a piano dolly. Keith moved and True seconded a motion to approve up to $800 for the purchase. The motion carried.

Other Business - Joann proposed a variety show to be sponsored by BHCA. When it was proposed a couple of years ago, Cynthia Mazzant had expressed interest. Sally moved and Keith seconded a motion to pursue a the idea of a variety show.

Located in the new section of Talleyrand Park that opened in the fall of 2010, planning began in late summer 2010 and the garden was approved by the Borough in September 2010. The garden, holding 23 different edibles, was planted in May & June, 2011 and yielded a good harvest, much of which was donated to the food bank. We are preparing the garden for the 2012 season. Activities include bed preparation, planting seeds and transplants, watering, weeding, and planning for 2013.
